The 'VicMaui' - Victoria, Canada, to Lahaina, Maui Saling Race 2012

Bob and I were delighted to share with other Maui residents in welcoming sailing yacht, Red Heather, to Lahaina Harbor last night.  'A bagpiper on the bow made a dramatic scene (at least to a Scotsman), for the arrival of the Red Heather team into the Lahaina for their finish party. Hailing out of the Squamish Yacht Club, John Gugins' Olson 40 finished with an elapsed time of 13 days, 10 hours, 57 minutes. After a disappointing race in the wind-challenged race in 2008 where she did not finish within the time limit, Red Heather had oodles of wind in 2012 and had many turns surfing the waves on her return ride to Maui.'
